The annual Knysna Oyster Festival is just around the corner officially taking place between 21 and 30 June 2019. With so much going on, selecting your activities for the festival can be overwhelming. Instead of getting caught up in the hustle and bustle, have a look at our top picks and decide what tickles your fancy;
Knysna Gin Friday Cocktails & Happy Hour
Kick off your Oyster Festival with some delicious cocktails at the Knysna Gin Distillery on Friday 21 June 2019. Happy hour takes place from 16:00 – 17:00 so don’t be late!
Kids Activities at Knysna Mall
If you’d like to have a browse or get some shopping done, take your kids down to the Knysna Mall where activities such as face painting, a jumping castle, glitter tattoos, and so much more are on offer to keep them entertained. These activities will be available from 10:00 – 14:00 on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd of June 2019.
IKASI Colour Fun Run
Taking place on 22 and 23 June 2019, IKASI Colour Fun Run is a popular sporting event suited to both young and old, fit and unfit. The idea behind this 4km fun walk/run is to bring people together regardless of culture, background, age, weight etc. and to create wonderful memories.
Also included is the Maxxfit Bodybuilding competition, Schools 5-a-side tournament from 10:00, live music, food and wine, a best-dressed contest, and so much more. Tickets can be purchased on Quicket.
The Knysna Cycle Tour: Road + Kiddies Race
Sign up to compete or come out to support friends and family taking part in either the 50km or 104km cycle race on 23 June 2019. The route promises to provide plenty of iconic Garden Route vistas to enjoy.
Taking place on the same day is the SPUR Children’s Cycle Tour suited to kiddies aged 2 – 10 with races suited to everyone. Entries close on Friday 14 June 2019 but spectators and supporters invited to come and join in the fun.
With just the adults in mind, join Oakhill School at 16:00 on the 23rd of June for the “not so” secret something event. Expect a little spice, a little naughty, and a lot of fun with comedy and several entertaining acts. Bring your own snacks, glasses, and drinks. Tickets are available at Tiger Lilly in the Knysna Mall.
Fun Runs for the Whole Family
There are an array of fun runs to be enjoyed by the whole family throughout the festival so pick your favourite, put on your running shoes, and head to enjoy the day!
FNB Family Forest Hike 24 – 26 June 2019
Enjoy a fun family forest hike sponsored by FNB. Suited to the entire family, choose between a distance of 2.5km, 6km, and 10km, and purchase your tickets online from Electric Ink.
ASWD 5KM Fun Run 25 June 2019

Oyster Festival Fun Run 25 June 2019
The official Oyster Festival 5km fun run taking place at Hornlee Primary School. It’s an early start with the gun going off at 7:30km but a great way to begin the day! Contact Moses Gericke on 082 763 7974 with any enquiries.
Head Over Hills Wine Festival 24 – 26 June 2019
Prepare for a delicious pairing of tasty food and tantalising wines presented at Head Over Hills Boutique Hotel by 8 different wine farms. Enjoy the lunch tasting from 11:00 – 14:00 for R395.00 or the dinner tasting from 18:00 – 21:00 for R495.00 per person.

Knysna Wine Festival

Murder Mystery Dinner
Although there are limited tickets, those lucky enough to attend will enjoy an evening of murder mystery on 28 June 2019 at 18:30. Each member of the dinner party will receive an email about their character the week before as well as a more detailed note about the dress code.

Knysna Forest Marathon
An annual favourite is back on 29 June 2019. Each year the Knysna Forest Marathon brings out competitors from all over the country to enjoy some incredible views, tough tracks, and the beautiful Knysna Forest.
