School’s Out: Your Garden Route Holiday

At Knysna Hollow Country Estate, outdoor fun takes centre stage during the school holidays. Our expansive grounds, with indigenous flowerbeds, offer many activities and amenities designed to keep children entertained, like a jungle gym or the run of sprawling lawns. (Remember the joys of playing ‘tag’ and ‘stuck in the mud’?)

The two sparkling swimming pools are an absolute highlight, providing endless hours of enjoyment for kids eager to splash around and cool off in the sunny spring weather.

Our state-of-the-art padel courts are an exciting option for those who enjoy sports. This fast-paced game is suitable for all ages and offers a fantastic way for kids to burn off energy while having fun. Why not set up a family challenge and see who emerges victorious?

Alternatively, our boules court provides a more relaxed, yet equally engaging, activity for families to enjoy together.

We also have a limited number of bicycles for hire. (You’re more than welcome to bring your own!) The estate is great for young children to cycle around on, but there are more challenging routes surrounding the grounds and around Knysna. Simply ask our reception desk for suggestions.

After a day of energetic activities, Knysna Hollow offers plenty of spaces for quiet relaxation. Our Garden Lounge areas are perfect for unwinding, with comfortable local wooden sofas and armchairs positioned adjacent to the swimming pools. These areas provide a serene setting where parents can relax while keeping an eye on their children.

The sun loungers by the pools come with adjustable sun shades and side tables, making them ideal for leisurely days in the sun. Whether you’re enjoying a book, taking a nap, or just soaking in the tranquillity of our gardens, these spots are perfect for some well-deserved downtime.

Our on-site library offers a cosy lounge area with a TV and three workstations. If you do need to stay in touch with the office during your break, this is the perfect space to do it! (Don’t worry, our WiFi is complimentary and speedy.)

Parents know and understand that one of the best parts about going away for the holidays is letting somebody else worry about the cooking.

Dining at Knysna Hollow is a delight for the whole family, thanks to our contemporary Social Eatery. Our restaurant serves a range of delicious meals made from fresh, local ingredients. Children can enjoy hearty breakfasts, satisfying lunches, and tasty snacks that cater to young palates. The emphasis on healthy and flavorful dishes ensures that even the pickiest eaters will find something they love.

Meals can be enjoyed in the restaurant, the bar lounge, or on our outdoor decks, which offer a charming setting for al fresco dining now that warmer days are here to stay.

Knysna Hollow Country Estate offers spacious, family-friendly Garden Suites with elegant décor and modern amenities including air-conditioning, satellite TV, Nespresso® coffee stations and private patios overlooking the gardens and pools.

We offer Family Suites with inter-leading rooms, plus rooms with sleeper couches for up to two children under 12.
